I’ve been saying for awhile that we were getting some chooks. Well, they arrived the other day, along with a rather magnificent looking rooster. Hubby built some nesting boxes and perches for them. For the moment, they are in the coop so they can become familiar with their surroundings.

We want them to be free ranging so we’ll eventually let them out after the hens have laid their eggs and entice them back in at night (with a trail of food). I peeked into the coop to take a crap iPhone shot of the rooster and a hen. I’ll get better shots soon. Now, we can enjoy fantastic organic eggs and are one step closer towards our goal of living the sustainable life.

Rooster and one hen - getting used to their new accommodation.

Our very first organic egg.

Since then, more eggs! Raw egg in your dog's dinner is a healthy treat.
